🧵 Join Us for Our 5-Week Big T Origami Quilt Sew Along!

I’m so excited to be co-hosting a brand-new sew along with the lovely Kimberly from Autumn Hollow Patchwork, and you’re invited to join us!

Over the next five weeks, we’ll be making the Big T Origami Quilt by Missouri Star,  an eye-catching pattern that’s perfect for beginners. It is also a great pattern if you’re new to layer cake patterns (like me).

Whether you're brand new or just looking for a relaxed sew along with friendly faces, we’d love for you to join the fun.

What Is the Big T Origami Sew Along?

A sew along is simply a group of quilters working on the same pattern at the same time and cheering each other on as we go.

We’re making the Big T Origami Quilt by Missouri Star Quilt Company. Over the next five weeks, we’ll be making the quilt top.

I’ll be co-hosting alongside Kimberly from Autumn Hollow Patchwork, and together we’ll be sharing weekly tips, check-ins and encouragement.

Who It’s For

This sew along is designed with beginners in mind. If you're just starting your quilting journey or want a straightforward project to follow along with each week, this is perfect for you.

No pressure, no rushing - just take things week by week and enjoy the fun of creating as a group. It’s also a great way to build new skills like cutting, working with half-square triangles and flying geese and assembling a full quilt top.

What You’ll Need

To make the Big T Origami Quilt, you’ll need just two main fabrics:

  • One Layer Cake (that’s 42 squares, 10" x 10")
  • 3½ yards of background fabric – I have chosen white fabric, and Kimberly is using black fabric

That’s it! You’ll also need basic quilting supplies like a rotary cutter, mat, ruler and sewing machine of course.

How to Join

We’re running the sew along through Instagram  so be sure to find me there @beginnersquiltinghub

Weekly Schedule Overview

Here’s how the 5 weeks will break down:

  • Week 1 – Cutting: Get your fabric cut out for the entire quilt top.
  • Week 2 – Half-Square Triangles.
  • Week 3 – Flying Geese.
  • Week 4 &  Week 5 – Catching Up & Assembling the Quilt Top

We’ll also be sharing tips, reminders, and progress check-ins to help you stay motivated and on track.
